Tribal tattoos: for fashion or belief?

Tattoos are preferred by many art loving people all around the world. Many people get Tribal Tattoo Designs imprinted on them to decorate their bodies. Many tattoos can not be undone. Such tattoos are made from a permanent ink. Since ancient times people get tattoos for either body modification or for other spiritual or mythical purposes.

According to the historians, tribal tattoos were used as recognition designs. Every tribe had a different tattoo. It made identification easier. It is also said that tribal tattoos were used for sacred or spiritual reasons.

It has been proved that tattoos are really old. The oldest body found with tattoos imprinted on it was of a man from Bronze age. The body had tattoos all over, it was found in an Italian glacier. The tattoos found on the body were scrutinized and were said to depict mythical creatures. It is also known for a fact that in 4200 BC Egyptian mummies had tattoos incised on them.

Tribal tattoos are very famous in the Maori tribe. This tribe belongs to New Zealand. Members of this tribe are known to have facial tattoos. The tribe strongly believed that the designs on their Tribal Tattoo showed their inner power. They also had a strong faith in the fact that after they die, light will shine from the different patterns. Borneo tribe from Indonesia is also one of the tribes who believe in tribal tattoos. They accepted the tribal tattoos as symbols of achievement and their protection. The tattoos mainly consisted of different flowers, shapes like circles and animals like dragons.

Many tribes such as Maura and Hausa still prefer tribal tattoos. These people mostly have tattoos on their faces. This art is widely preferred in many parts of the world. However, it is forbidden in Islamic religion.

With the passing time the tattoos around the world have developed. Many more unique designs are now available through out the world. In the modern world, many people go for tattoos not because they spiritually believe in them but for the sake of body decoration and fashion. Nevertheless, there are still people present who strongly believe in the spiritual and religious significance of tribal tattoos.
